About Superintendent Mark Smith

Dr. Mark Smith started in the Superintendent role on July 1, 2024. His first year at HSSD was 2016. He served as HSSD Deputy Superintendent from 2019-2024, as HSSD Assistant Superintendent of Organizational Development (HR) from 2016-2019, and, prior to HSSD, in a variety of executive leadership positions at the Green Bay Area Public School District. He, his wife Stephanie, and children Gavin and Sadie are proud to be involved Howard-Suamico residents. Be sure to say hello when you see them in the community!

Thank you to the 132 attendees of the Stronger Together event held December 12-14. Your presence and engagement showcase the collective commitment we share in shaping the future of our schools and community.

This event represented more than just a gathering - it was a meaningful opportunity for stakeholders from all backgrounds to come together, to find common ground, and to collaborate regarding a promising future for our students. Through open dialogue, we discussed priorities, addressed challenges, and explored opportunities to strengthen our district.

The input gathered during this process will act as a cornerstone in developing HSSD's new Strategic Framework, which will empower students to thrive in a changing world.

Strategic Framework Timeline

From January-March, HSSD administrators will form work teams to translate themes into actionable steps, ensuring the Strategic Framework is robust and forward-thinking.
The blueprint will be presented to the Board of Education for endorsement in March.
The community will stay informed through regular communications, along with a comprehensive annual update in December 2025.
