Taste of the Villages Raises More Than $61,000

Thank you for your support of the 14th Annual Giving Tree Taste of the Villages and Auction. This year's event was the most successful yet as it raised more than $61,000 to assist families in need, many thanks to your generous donations and sponsorships.

A Note from The Giving Tree Auction Team:

We are truly grateful for the many staff, businesses, and individuals who attended the event. In addition, we are grateful to our restaurant sponsors and those who donated auction items, made monetary donations, and participated in the auction. Your willingness to give allows The Giving Tree to continue to branch out, meeting the needs of hundreds of children in the Howard-Suamico School District (HSSD). 

Many of you have asked how we spend the money we make at our auction and from the generous donations we receive throughout the year. It's a great question! We could not meet the needs of our students without these funds.

Since last year’s auction, we spent more than $65,000 on food, student/family assistance, school supplies, transportation, socks, underwear, and the annual Holiday Store and Back-to-School events. Education is the most important factor in getting out of poverty. We spend thousands of dollars on many other items, too, from operating the food pantry to filling in gaps of other student needs throughout the year. 

The dollars you donate make a difference. Thank you again for your continuous support of students and families in HSSD and The Giving Tree's efforts to fulfill its mission. Here at The Giving Tree we branch out with HSSD and the surrounding communities to provide support and supplement basic needs of families to enhance students’ educational journeys towards self-sufficiency. We only do that with you!
