HSSD Selects Wiebel as New Bay Port Principal

The Howard-Suamico School District has selected Mr. Jo Wiebel to serve as principal of Bay Port High School effective July 1, 2025. This decision follows Mr. Mike Frieder’s retirement announcement. After 30 years as Bay Port principal, he will retire at the end of this school year.

Mr. Wiebel and Mr. Frieder will work hand-in-hand throughout the remainder of the 2024-25 school year to ensure a smooth transition. We are confident that this collaborative approach will help Bay Port maintain its momentum of exceptional education.

“Mr. Wiebel has made a noteworthy positive impact for seven years as Bay Port associate principal, and we are excited to keep the tradition of excellence alive and well at Bay Port,” said Superintendent Mark Smith. "We are grateful to have such a talented internal leader ready to serve during this critical transition as we continue working with students and families to prepare them for a successful and meaningful future.”

Wiebel joined HSSD in 2018 as associate principal following 14 years as an administrator, teacher, and coach in the Green Bay Area Public School District. Wiebel and his family have called Suamico their home for the past 16 years.

“Bay Port has a history of excellence. I am excited to continue working with the dedicated staff to provide the best possible educational opportunities for our students and families,” said Wiebel. “I’m also excited to build upon our long-standing traditions while exploring opportunities for our school community to grow.”

Please join us in honoring Mr. Frieder’s 30 remarkable years as principal and welcoming Mr. Wiebel to his new role.

Wiebel and his wife, Tiffany, are the proud parents of Evan, Noah, and Maya.
