The Howard-Suamico School District has promoted Mr. Heath Garland to serve as principal of Bay View Middle School effective today.
“Heath has made a noteworthy positive impact in a short amount of time at Bay View Middle School,” said Superintendent Damian LaCroix. “His communication style and servanthood approach to leadership will serve Bay View students, families, and staff well in the years to come. I am pleased he has accepted this opportunity to lead.”
A 1991 graduate of Bay Port High School, Garland returned to HSSD in 2019 as a training and development specialist following 19 years as a high school math teacher, instructional coach, and administrator in the Milwaukee Public School system. He was named interim principal at Bay View in 2022 when previous building principal Steve Meyers transitioned to an administrative role supporting the referendum-based facilities projects in the district.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and grateful to continue to serve at Bay View Middle School,” said Garland. “I care deeply about creating opportunities for all students to experience success. Bay View is a special place where continuous improvement is valued.”
Garland and his wife, Kelly, are the proud parents of sons Landon (14) and Kellan (11).
