Amtmann, Paulsen Share Gratitude and Highlights

We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for re-electing us to the Howard-Suamico School Board. We thank our supporters and everyone who took time to vote in the April 4 election. As re-elected Board of Education members, we look forward to continuing to serve our students, staff, and community members.

We are active members of this community, which continually demonstrates its commitment to educational excellence and dedication to our children. As our district mission states: we are committed to working with families and community to ensure that our students have the knowledge and skills to succeed in a changing world.

Here are some significant highlights our Board of Education has achieved this year:

  • Receiving valued input and feedback during public community conversations with HSSD staff, village and county officials, clergy and civic leaders, active older adults, post-secondary education leaders, Bay Port students, and business and workforce development officials.
  • Lowering the tax levy rate to $8.69. This rate is $0.30 lower than promised during the April 2021 referendum campaign and was made possible by the Board’s fiscal responsibility and paying down additional debt each year.
  • Receiving a clean financial audit from KerberRose, signifying ongoing and steady stewardship of public dollars by our administrative leaders.
  • Recognizing students, staff, and community partners at the start of each Board meeting to celebrate our mutual successes.
  • Advocating with state and national legislators for equitable and adequate school funding on behalf of HSSD students, families, and staff.
  • Casting a vision for the future of education in HSSD by meeting with district leaders from other school systems and visiting innovative facilities to guide our future planning.
