Planned Absences
All absences from school, not related to an illness, injury, or family emergency, must be requested in writing at least 48 hours in advance to be excused. Please use the Advance Absence Notice for this purpose. This form will be routed to the student’s teachers for approval signatures.
All homework issued prior to departure must be completed and turned in upon the student’s return to school. Approval for absences for vacations, travel, hunting trips, etc., will not be guaranteed if the student is doing below-average work, has poor study habits and/or is habitually late with class assignments.
Since learning opportunities such as teacher presentations, discussions, and experiments are difficult for students to make up during these absences, we truly appreciate your continued support in helping us reach our goal of keeping students in class as much as possible.
Please review the calendar for scheduled breaks and plan your vacations during those times, whenever possible. It is strongly suggested that parents contact the school in advance to discuss the matter before finalizing plans with their child.
Absence Due to Illness
We understand that there may be situations/illnesses that occur. Per our District Policy 430 we are obligated to keep parents informed, in writing, any time a student has accumulated ten (10) days of absence or equivalent. It is important to note that an absence is defined as being absent from school for any portion of/or the entire school day. If you have any additional questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
When a child's illness requires a visit to a doctor, please request a note at the appointment. Send the note to the office when your child returns to school. The note from the doctor will serve as confirmation of the appointment. The absence will be recorded as medical and will not be counted toward the 10 day maximum absence days.
