Group Swimming Lessons

As you prepare for swim lessons, please consider the following:
- You may register for as many sessions as you like. Adjustments will be made by the pool staff as swimmers advance through levels.
- Spectators will be asked to remain in designated areas only.
- Masks are optional, but highly recommended.

All swim lessons are taught by qualified staff certified in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instruction, CPR for the Professional Rescuers, and First Aid. Prerequisites for levels Pre-1 through 5 are the ability to willingly participate in the water with an instructor without crying and being age 3-15.

Parent-Tot Swimming Lessons
The Parent-Tot Swimming Lesson program is designed for swimmers age 6 months to 4 years old. The class is instructor-led, but each participant is required to have an adult in the water with him/her at all times.
The Howard-Suamico Community Pool offers the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. All swim lessons are taught by qualified staff certified in the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instruction, CPR for the Professional Rescuers, and First Aid.
Parent-Tot Swimming Lessons are offered during the Spring and Summer sessions.
Disclaimers and Policies
Walk-In Registration
Walk-in registration will be available at the pool starting the first day registration opens and will continue during open pool hours until classes are filled. Cash/Check/Credit Card will be accepted. There is no advantage to walk-in registration. Online is the preferred method.
Registration Tips
You may register for as many sessions as you like starting on the first day of registration.
As classes fill up, they will be closed. "Sold Out" will appear near the top of the page indicating the class is full. Register early as classes have enrollment caps and will quickly fill up. Please complete this form to be placed on the wait list.
Fees
Online payments can be made using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. Check/Cash/Credit Card accepted in person at Howard-Suamico Community Pool, located at 2700 Lineville Road.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel a class that is confirmed and paid for, email Tracy Barden. Please note that a minimum five day notice is required to be eligible for a refund.
No refunds or credits will be issued after that point without written documentation from a medical provider or another circumstance deemed extreme.
All refunds are subject to a $5 fee to be deducted from the refunded account.
Location of Classes
All classes will be held at the Howard-Suamico Community Pool, located at 2700 Lineville Road. The entrance to the pool is on the north side of Lineville Intermediate School. Parking is located off Rockwell Lane on the north and west sides of the pool facility.
Explanation of Levels
Parent-Tot
- Prerequisites: None
- Age: 6 months - 4 years
- Objective: To introduce young swimmers to their first swimming experience in the water with an adult.
- Instructors will teach the adults and children about safety around and in the pool, different techniques to help get them use to the water, and the basics of swimming and making swimming a positive experience.
Group Lessons (Levels Pre-1 to 5)
- Prerequisites: Ability to willingly participate in the water with an instructor without crying (parents are asked to remain off the pool deck).
- Ages: 3-15
Explanation of Levels
- Level Pre-1
- Objective: To introduce young swimmers to their first swimming experience in a group setting.
- Children will learn how to blow bubbles, enter and exit the water, and kick and use arm movement.
- Level 1
- Objective: To help young swimmers feel comfortable in the water.
- Children will learn how to alternate their arm movement on their front crawl, kicking and moving their arms and legs at the same time, and being able to float on their front and back without any assistance.
- Level Pre-2
- Objective: To introduce swimmers to independent swimming.
- Children will work more on their front/back float and glide without any assistance, being able to swim front crawl using side breathing, and work on their kicking and finning stroke on their back.
- Level 2
- Objective: To build endurance on fundamental skills.
- Children will learn breath control when swimming on their front, learn how to swim back crawl, and work on elementary backstroke with whip kick.
- Level 3
- Objective: To build endurance and fundamental skills.
- Children will start swimming front/back crawl the width of the pool along with being introduced to scissor, dolphin, and breaststroke kick. An introduction to basic diving will also be taught at this level.
- Level 4
- Objective: To build endurance and coordinate all strokes.
- Children will work more on perfecting their front/back crawls and being able to swim two lengths without stopping, along with working on coordinating their breaststroke arms and legs. They will also be introduced to kicking on their front and back using streamline arms.
- Level 5
- Objective: To refine all strokes.
- Children will work on extending their yardage when it comes to swimming front/back crawls, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke. They will also working more on coordinating body movement on butterfly.
- Level 6:
- Prerequisites: The successful completion of level 5 as noted on report card.
- Objective: Fitness swimming, fundamentals of diving, personal water safety, and increasing endurance of all strokes. Open/flip turns, underwater pull and swim workout elements will be taught in this level. Along with, the fundamentals of diving from poolside, spring board and starting blocks.
- Pre-Competitive: Preparing for Swim Team
- Prerequisites: Able to swim the length of the pool in a strong manner without assistance using the correct technique on front and back.
- Objective: Advancing swimming skills in preparation to join swim team. Swimmers will learn the basics of competitive swimming and will focus on Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly & Breaststroke, flip turns, open turns, starts, relays, streamlines etc. Swimmers will also get to experience a mini swim meet on the last day of the session period.
Private Swimming Lessons
Private Swim Lessons
All Private Swimming Lessons are 30 minute sessions. Private lessons are offered to any age swimmers wanting to learn how to swim, perfect his/her strokes, or accomplish anything in between. Offered year-round to fit your family’s schedule, lessons are 30 minutes in length and are customized to the swimmer’s ability.

Cancelation Policy

- To cancel/reschedule a private lesson that is confirmed and paid for, email tracbard@hssdschools.org or discuss changes with your instructor.
- Day-of notice
- To cancel/reschedule a private lesson that is confirmed and paid for the day of the lesson, call 920-662-7874 to speak with the supervisor on duty.
- Please do not leave a voicemail.
- Notice within one hour or after the lesson’s start time will result in a missed lesson. No refund/credit will be issued.

Lap Swim/Open Swim
When You Arrive: Please have a photo ID ready as all patrons are checked-in via the Raptor System prior to entering the facility.
Lap Swim
During lap swim, lanes are designated for individuals who are looking for continuous lap swimming, as well as water walking. Circle swimming is encouraged when more than two swimmers accompany a lane. Designated lanes are available during scheduled times in the pool.
Open Swim
Open Swim is open to anyone who wants to enjoy the pool and water for swimming laps, playing with swim toys, and having fun with the family. Balls, noodles, water toys, inner tubes and life jackets are available upon request. Water wings and cubes are not allowed. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Water Aerobics will not have pre-registration at this time. When You Arrive: Please have a photo ID ready as all patrons are checked-in via the Raptor System prior to entering the facility.

Looking for a great water workout? All Water Aerobics classes are led at a moderate to fast paced aerobic workout. The atmosphere allows participants to go at a speed and water depth they are comfortable with. Each class includes cardio, toning, and stretching. Each instructor has her own style with a wide variety of moves and music.
