- You may register for swim lessons anytime, via the online webpage.
- Register early as classes have enrollment caps and fill up quickly.
- You may register for as many classes as you like. Adjustments will be made by the pool staff as swimmers advance through levels.
- As classes fill up, they will be closed. “Sold Out” will appear near the top of the page indicating the class is full.

- Note: walk-in registration is no longer available.

Cancellation Policy:
To cancel or reschedule a class that is confirmed and paid for, email Tracy Barden. Please note that a minimum five day notice is required to be eligible for a refund. No refunds or credits will be issued after that point without written documentation from a medical provider or another circumstance deemed extreme. All refunds are subject to a $5 fee to be deducted from the refunded account.
Location of Classes:
All classes will be held at the Howard-Suamico Community Pool, located at 2700 Lineville Road. The entrance to the pool is on the north side of Lineville Intermediate School. Parking is located off Rockwell Lane on the north and west sides of the pool facility.
Arrival Procedure:
- Doors open 5 minutes prior to class.
- Bring a swimsuit and towel. Goggles are optional but encouraged in higher levels.
- Swimmer will check in at the lobby and proceed to the locker room. Swimmers must shower before entering the pool area. (Staff will be present to help direct swimmers from lobby to pool deck.)
- Spectators will be asked to remain in designated areas only.
- Any spectator entering the locker rooms will need a valid photo id processed through our Raptor System.
- Swimmers levels are determined by prior sessions or testing on the first day of class.
- All swim lessons will be supervised by staff trained in American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED.
Explanation of Swim Levels
Private Swim Lessons
- Prerequisite: None
- Age: any age
- Objective: To offer private or semi-private swim instruction to any age swimmers wanting to learn how to swim, perfect his/her strokes, or accomplish anything in between.
- Offered on a flexible schedule as each class is scheduled independently (No packages/group bookings).
- Each lesson is 30 minutes in length and is customized to the swimmer’s ability.
- Fee listed is per 30 minute lesson, not per swimmer.
Adult-Child (Formerly Parent-tot)
- Prerequisites: None
- Age: 6 months - 3 years
- Objective: To introduce young swimmers to their first swimming experience in the water with an adult.
- Instructors will teach the adults and swimmers about safety around and in the pool, different techniques to help get them comfortable in the water, and the basics of swimming and making swimming a positive experience.
Toddler Aquatics (New Class Offering)
- Prerequisites: None
- Age: 2 years - 3 years
- Objective: To introduce young swimmers to their first swimming experience in the water with an adult nearby.
- Instructors will teach the swimmers about safety around and in the pool, different techniques to help get them comfortable in the water, and the basics of swimming and making swimming a positive experience.
- Adults will be required to sit on the edge of the pool with swimmers.
Group Lessons (Levels 1-8)
Prerequisites: Ability to willingly participate in the water with an instructor without crying (parents are not allowed on the pool deck).
Level 1: Preschool Aquatics (Formerly Level Pre-1)
- Prerequisites: Ability to willingly participate in the water with an instructor without crying (parents are not allowed on the pool deck).
- Ages: 3 years - 4 years
- Objective: Introduce young swimmers to their first swimming experience and become comfortable in the water.
- Introduction to bubble blowing, submerging, kicking, arm movement, floating, entering/exiting water and water safety.
Level 2: Water Skill Introduction (Formerly Level 1)
- Prerequisites: Ability to willingly participate in the water with an instructor without crying (parents are not allowed on the pool deck).
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: Help swimmers feel comfortable in the water and introduce basic water skills.
- Skill practice of submerging, front/back float with/without assistance, alternate arm/leg action on front/back, entering/exiting water and water safety.
Level 3: Water Skill Improvement (Formerly Level Pre-2)
- Prerequisites: Ability to submerge entire head and independently float on front and back.
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: Introduce swimmers to independent swimming.
- Continued skill practice of front/back float and glide without any assistance, entering/exiting water and water safety skills.
- Skill practice of front crawl (using 4 strokes and roll), finning stroke on the back and water safety.
Level 4: Water Skill Refinement (Formerly Level 2)
- Prerequisites: Basic demonstration of front crawl (using 4 strokes and roll) and finning stroke on the back.
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: To build endurance on independent swimming.
- Continued skill practice of front crawl (using 4 strokes and roll) and finning stroke on the back.
- Skill practice of back crawl, elementary backstroke and breath control when swimming on the front.
- Skill practice of comfort in deep water and water safety.
Level 5: Stoke Introduction (Formerly Level 3)
- Prerequisites: Front crawl (with side breathing) 10 yards, swimming on back (backstroke and elementary backstroke) 10 yards and comfortable in deep water (6-12 feet depth).
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: To introduce multiple swimming strokes and build endurance on water skills.
- Continued skill practice of back crawl, elementary backstroke and front crawl (with side breathing).
- Skill practice of scissor, dolphin, and breaststroke kick.
- Skill practice of basic diving and water safety
Level 6: Stoke Improvement (Formerly Level 4)
- Prerequisites: Front crawl (with side breathing) 25 yards, swimming on back (backstroke and elementary backstroke) 25 yards and comfortable in deep water (6-12 feet depth).
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: To build endurance on all swimming strokes.
- Continued skill practice of back crawl, elementary backstroke, front crawl (with side breathing) and scissors, dolphin and breaststroke kick.
- Skill practice breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly and kicking with streamline arms.
- Skill practice of water safety.
Level 7: Stoke Refinement (Formerly Level 5)
- Prerequisites: Front crawl (with side breathing), Backstroke and Elementary backstroke for 50 yards. Breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly for 15 yards. Comfortable in deep water (6-12 feet depth).
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: To refine all strokes.
- Continued skill practice of endurance on front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly.
- Skill practice on turns and water safety.
Level 8: Water Skills and Stroke Proficiency (Formerly Level 6)
- Prerequisites: Front crawl (with side breathing), Backstroke and Elementary backstroke for 100 yards. Breaststroke and sidestroke for 25 yards and butterfly for 15 yards. Comfortable in deep water (6-12 feet depth).
- Ages: 5 years - 15 years
- Objective: Continued endurance of all strokes, turns and water safety skills.
- Skill practice swim workout elements.
- Skill practice of diving from poolside, springboard and starting blocks.
Lap Swim/Open Swim
When You Arrive: Please have a photo ID ready as all patrons are checked-in via the Raptor System prior to entering the facility.
Lap Swim
During lap swim, lanes are designated for individuals who are looking for continuous lap swimming, as well as water walking. Circle swimming is encouraged when more than two swimmers accompany a lane. Designated lanes are available during scheduled times in the pool.
Open Swim
Open Swim is open to anyone who wants to enjoy the pool and water for swimming laps, playing with swim toys, and having fun with the family. Balls, noodles, water toys, inner tubes and life jackets are available upon request. Water wings and cubes are not allowed. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Water Aerobics

Looking for a great water workout? All Water Aerobics classes are led at a moderate to fast paced aerobic workout. The atmosphere allows participants to go at a speed and water depth they are comfortable with. Each class includes cardio, toning, and stretching. Each instructor has her own style with a wide variety of moves and music.
