Online School

Compare to Traditional School

Bay Port iAcademy is able to offer students more individual attention that most traditional schools.  Instead of teaching 30 students at one time, our instructors primarily interact with students on a one-to-one basis.  Bay Port iAcademy teachers use a combination of phone, email, instant messaging, and virtual whiteboards sessions to give students this one-to-one support.

Instructional Model

Student Focused

With Bay Port iAcademy online education, the student is the focus. Our unique "student-centric" instructional model is tailored to meet each student's needs and aspirations. The result is truly individualized learning.

We're about relationships. Students work closely with certified teachers, receiving personalized and flexible instruction. Thanks to phone, email, virtual whiteboard sessions, and instant messaging communications, Bay Port iAcademy students are never far from one-to-one instruction.

Our students learn to set their own schedules. Each student receives an individualized pace chart that defines due dates for assignments and tests during the 18 week semester. The online semester follows the academic school year calendar, so students taking online courses and who may be taking courses on campus will have the same length of semester to keep schedules uncomplicated.

Monitoring Progress

A student progress map tracks all grades and assignments. Unlike quarterly report cards, parents can monitor their student's progress and attendance on a daily basis. Parent-teacher conferences may be held at any time to address a student's academic, personal, or pacing issues.

At Bay Port iAcademy, everything revolves around the student. We create an individualized lesson plan that takes into account students' unique scheduling and academic needs. This flexibility means learning virtually when you want, where you want, and how you want.

Our students have access to a robust network of support, which includes our Wisconsin state-certified teachers. Thanks to email, instant messaging, virtual whiteboards, and phone communications, Bay Port iAcademy students are never far from one-on-one academic support.

We don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" learning — an education should be unique to the student receiving it. Bay Port iAcademy's personalized education truly is a better way to learn.

What are the Benefits?

The benefits of an online education are plentiful.  Our coursework gives students the flexibility to learn when and where they want, any time of day or night.  Our customized learning approach comes with one-on-one support from certified teachers who tailor an instruction plan that works for you.  We also offer a wide scope of coursework including  AP classes that may not be available in traditional school setting.

Harnessing technology

Technology empowers our students with a truly flexible education. Working online, our students can learn virtually anytime and anywhere. For students on the go, coursework can be downloaded and completed offline. It's all about what works for you.

Technology also plays a critical role in communication between teachers, students, and parents. Using email, instant messaging, real-time virtual whiteboards, and phone communications, it's easy for students to get individualized support from the Bay Port iAcademy team.

Skills for the future

As a Bay Port iAcademy student, you'll learn important 21st Century skills, setting you up for success beyond high school. Technology is changing the way the world works.

At Bay Port iAcademy, all tests are based on the curriculum and the individualized instruction plans for each student.  All testing occurs online and requires critical thinking from the student.  While based online, test results are not easily replicated, minimizing the potential for academic misconduct.  All exams are supplemented by homework assignnments, projects, and quizzes that combine to create a holistic system of student evaluation.

Bay Port iAcademy Distance Learning serves students in grades 6–12 and gives access to a complete curriculum. We offer scheduling flexibility, provide online access to coursework, and allow students to work at their own pace toward deadlines.

  • When school begins, log in and work on your courses from an Internet-connected computer. Assignments, tests and quizzes are online 24/7.

  • Get real help when you need it. For each course, you are assigned an experienced, certified teacher who is accessible via virtual whiteboard, phone, email, or instant message (IM).

  • Earn a diploma, or have the credits transferred to your traditional school. Upon completion of all required credits, your diploma will be issued by the Howard-Suamico School District.

Transcripts and diplomas will be issued by the Howard-Suamico School District.   Wisconsin Virtual School has partnered with Howard-Suamico School District to create the Bay Port i Academy.   All teachers are currently not employed by the Howard-Suamico School District and are not on-site;  however, all teachers are accessible to students and parents virtually.
